Berlin Backgammon welcomes players of all levels to our tournaments. Beginners, intermediates, and experts will find good competition and a fun atmosphere. Come join us for the monthly Berlin Championship and the Berlin Beginners tournaments!
Those new to our tournaments will be assigned a personal tutor to guide them through the tournament.

We play Backgammon in compliance with international rules, meaning all matches are played with the doubling cube and the Crawford rule is in vigour.
The tournament is usually held the third Saturday of each month, but there are exceptions, so please check the Berlin Backgammon Calendar. The season will finish with the 2-day-season’s final tournament in summer.
Registration starts at 12:00 pm and closes at 12:55pm, the tournament starts at 1 pm.

Format: Preliminary round of 4 7-point-matches (truncated round-robin). Thereafter, best 8 players play in a 3-round-single elimination main bracket (7/7/9); all others, provided they have at least one win, play a single elimination Second Chance (5/5/5/5/5/7) bracket.
Entry fees
Masters: 42€ + 4€ for the annual pool + 3 to 14€ registration fee. Optional side pool I 32€ (+3€ registration) or optional side pool II 94€ (+6€ registration).
Beginners: 10€ + 2 to 14€ registration fee.

Entry fees are paid out to 3-6 participants depending on the sum of the entry fees. Beginners win a fixed appreciation award. A Lady’s and a Rookie’s prize are awarded.
Clock use is mandatory. The time bank for each player is set at 2:00 minutes per match point. The additional time per move is 12 seconds for each player.
You are not required to bring your own board and clock, but please bring them with you if you have them.
